I'm having knee surgery in two months, and the doctor sent me a list of supplies I should get for home care. Large surgical dressings were on the list, so I decided to order these. I particularly like the fact these pads have 5 different layers doing different jobs, which makes them quite absorbent with a nice cushion-y feel. The silicone layer is next to the skin so they're non-stick, which is always a concern when changing regular gauze bandages.
The first thing I noticed after removing the outer wrap is how super sticky the pad was all over ~ edge to edge. I used the non-sticky top layer to get it into position and smooth it over the surgical area as best I could. There were a few "wrinkles" around the edges but they didn't interfere with how well the pad stuck to my knee. It actually felt softer and more cushioned than I imagined it would. It's also breathable, waterproof and highly absorbent. What's not to like?
I normally buy Mölnlycke silicone foam dressings, which are considerably more expensive, so I was interested to see how these compared. When I first opened one, I thought it might be thinner, but after comparing them, they are actually very similar in thickness and overall feel.
These are a nice large 6 x 6 size with a good-sized absorbent center and a silicone adhesive border. They feel soft and cushioned, and the adhesive holds the dressing in place while still being gentle when removed. Each dressing is individually wrapped, and you get 10 in the box.
These are a good option for sores or wounds that need the protection and cushioning of this type of foam dressing. Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m very pleased with them, especially considering how much more reasonably priced they are compared with the brand I normally buy.
